- Print jobs disappear from the queue without printing
- Queue shows the job but nothing comes out of the printer
- Error message appears when you try to print
- Printer appears 'Ready' but does not respond to print commands
- Printer worked before and stopped printing suddenly
Common Causes
- Print queue stuck with an old job that cannot clear — blocking all new jobs
- Print Spooler service crashed or is not responding
- Incorrect printer port in Windows — the computer is sending data to the wrong address
- Firewall or security software blocking the print communication
- Driver mismatch after a Windows update changed the driver version
What to Check First
- Check your print queue (right-click printer in Devices and Printers → See what is printing). Look for any jobs with error status that are not clearing.
- Cancel all pending jobs in the queue. Sometimes a single stuck job blocks everything behind it.
- Check which printer is set as default — if you have multiple printers installed, jobs may be going to the wrong one.
- Open Device Manager and look for any yellow warning icons next to your printer. This indicates a driver problem.
- Check if your security or firewall software is blocking printer communication — some software treats printer connections as network activity and blocks it.
If none of these steps resolve the problem, a Nanicto technician can connect remotely and check your printer configuration directly. We will diagnose the problem and determine whether it can be resolved remotely.
