- New printer not connecting to Wi-Fi during initial setup
- Cannot find printer on network after connecting to Wi-Fi
- Setup wizard completes but printer shows offline
- WPS pairing button does not work
- Printer setup fails on Windows 11 or macOS
Common Causes
- Printer connected to a different Wi-Fi band than the computer (2.4GHz vs. 5GHz)
- Incorrect Wi-Fi password entered during printer setup
- Router firewall or device isolation preventing discovery
- Driver not installed or installed incorrectly after Wi-Fi setup
- Printer assigned a dynamic IP that changed after first setup
What to Check First
- Before starting setup, note your exact Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password — you will need these to enter into the printer.
- Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi using the printer's control panel setup wizard — not from the computer. The process varies by brand.
- After the printer shows a successful Wi-Fi connection on its screen, install the driver on your computer using the full driver package from the manufacturer.
- If the driver installer cannot find the printer on the network, try adding the printer by IP address instead of using auto-discovery.
- After setup, assign a static IP to your printer via your router settings (DHCP reservation) to prevent connection problems in the future.
If none of these steps resolve the problem, a Nanicto technician can connect remotely and check your printer configuration directly. We will diagnose the problem and determine whether it can be resolved remotely.
